request for vertical ribbon RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is there any chance that an option of a vertical ribbon will be developed?  With widescreen monitors becoming the norm, it becomes much easier to lose track of which line is next, making the ribbon's consumption of vertical space even more wasteful.  I know you claim that it will be in developement for the successor of office 2010, but this has to be costing you sales of 2010 (at least it is costing you mine anyway).  Further such delays will encourage some to switch to other programs, or to Mac altogether (as I have had to do with my work computer).

    Thank you.

  • Hi Browns87,

    Thank you for posting.

But this forum is not the best place for problems concerning the new feature of Office. For more information, I recommend you try to ask in in Answer Sites, where there are more specialists in this area, and you will probably get more help.

If you have any concern on this issue, just feel free to come back. Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi brown

If you want to develop a UI that's vertical I suggest you look at using a Custom Task Pane. Since that can contain Windows Forms controls it gives you a much wider range of possibilities than a Ribbon for user interaction.
