I've just bought a computer, and am not tech savvy. I'm just trying to open an XML file, to view it on my computer. I've seen the file get opened on other laptops. So I would think that my problem has to do with a setting on my computer.
The error is:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the
Refresh button, or try again later.
Access is denied. Error processing resource 'http://markets.midwestiso.org/vss/SettlementSummary.xsl'.
I've been looking up this error message, but the suggestions on what needs to be done are above my understanding of computers. Most of the suggestions seem to refer to ASP.NET
I'm not sure how to check on ASP.NET, or to reinstall (see forum suggestion below).
Sounds like ASP.NET is not installed properly. Make sure you've added the IIS windows component
to your OS%2
UPDATE: I have found a workaround
(right click on the XML file name, SAVE TARGET AS . . . then click OPEN and it opens properly. But I still would prefer to have the one-click-and-open ability.
So I'm still looking to find out how to make that happen, if anyone has any suggestions.
XML file essentially is a text file which can be opened by various programs including NOTEPAD.EXE, Internet Explorer and many first and 3rd party programs., although the later ones can offer things like highlighting. It should have nothing
to do with ASP.NET. When all else fails, use notepad.
I assume that you have double clicked on the XML file and IE try to display it. This XML file has an embedded link to XSL file which looks like it is transforming the XML file into a HTML for viewing. From the error message, it looks like you are having
problems to access the XSL file although I was able to access it. Only thing come to mind is to make sure that you are connected to Internet. The referenced XSL pointing to resource on a server somewhere.
