Excel Designer cannot be activated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I got an Excel VSTO project which I couldnt' open after I upgraded from VS2010 to VS2013, the error message "Excel Designer cannot be activated" displayed everytime I tried to open the excel workbook.

The Visual Studio Tools for Office Design-Time Adaptor for Excel is active within Excel 2013.

I can see the blow error message in VS log:

        <record>331</record>
        2016/11/17 03:46:56.772
        <type>Warning</type>
        VisualStudio

Unexpected system error mode before loading package [Visual Studio Tools for Office Project Client Package for Excel]

Have tried repairing office 2013, repairing VS2013 with no luck.

weirdly I got another machine running the same software but it works fine.

any suggesetion will be much appreciated.
