Hi,
I've came a cross a post which stated if you use a read only replica in Always on you are required for a additional license. is that accurate?

I think you should speak licensing person to clarify regarding this.
For question regarding pricing / licensing please contact a Microsoft sales partner or licensing expert.

Thats true. You dont pay if it is purely use only as stand-by server.
