Version information? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Like many others on the forum, I cannot get the correct pdbs for Visual Studio 2008 SP1.  That is not what makes me angry.  What makes me angry is there is no version information (or maybe I cannot find it) at all for the dlls in the .NET framework.  I am back in .dll ____, back in 1998, and the wonderful support and documentation Microsoft started releasing shortly after this time just stopped being released.

I know what version I have, but I have no way to find out which version of which dll shipped with which product, service pack or hotfix.  I have no way of knowing which versions of each pdb are available from Microsoft's Reference Source Code Center.

Thank God for Linux, I use it at home, maybe I can at work at my next job.  If I ever need this information to solve a production problem, I will lose my current job.
