Unable to manage my extension in Visual Studio Gallery

    Question

  • How do I switch from "uploading my tool" to "share a link to my tool" option when the tool has already been uploaded and published in Visual Studio Gallery?

Edit option now allows only updating the downloadable file.

    What am I overlooking?

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

It seems that once you have selected "I would like to upload my tool" you cannot change it to "I would like to share a link to my tool", you would need to unpublish it and start again, losing download count and stars.

I would wait some weeks/months because at some point the publishing experience will be moved from the Visual Studio Gallery to the Visual Studio Marketplace (which for VS extensions is currently only used for downloading, not for publishing) and will have a different user interface.

You can also contact MS Visual Studio Gallery guys at vsmarketplace microsoft com and ask if they can change the downloading mechanism for your VSIX from hosted to link.

  • Carlos,

Thank you for your answer. That option really becomes unchangeable, which however seems a bit strange. I will probably get in contact with MS Visual studio Gallery support to see if they can help somehow.
