zwwrtitefile - drive path question RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is it mandatory to use c:\\ drive for creating and writing a file in kernel mode? When I use other drives , sometimes it works , sometimes it gives errors. The current error I am getting is "c00000c4".

    Thanks

    Rashmi.

  • Are you trying to open a file on a network file system?  The error is STATUS_UNEXPECTED_NETWORK_ERROR.    As far as I know you should be able to open local file systems, but not a network filesystem.

  • Yes it is a network file system, that explains the error I guess. Thanks.
