Broken Links to Excel RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    When linking to Excel 2010 (.xlsm or .xlsx) from Word 2010 I am experiencing the following problems.

    I create a link, such as the following;

    { LNK  Excel.SheetMacroEnabled.12 "C:\\Trading\\Analysis\\trade.xlsm" "RStock!R26C1:R36C4" \p }

    The link omits the “\a” switch as described in my previous thread;

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/worddev/thread/93c28cf6-74c2-4041-a772-f05e59bd0a55

    When I save the Word file and re-open it the link changes to the following with the quote marks being changed.

    { LNK  Excel.SheetMacroEnabled.12 "C:\\Trading\\Analysis\\trade.xlsm!RStock!R26C1:R36C4" \p }

    If I try to re-create the original link using VBA by splitting the string @ “!” the link looks like the following where the worksheet name/ cell reference has been removed.

     { LNK  Excel.SheetMacroEnabled.12 "C:\\Trading\\Analysis\\trade.xlsm" "" \p }

    I would like to know how to prevent Word from altering the original link. The problem occurs in Word 2010 not Word 2003.

    Thank you,

    Graham
