ReArchitecting a Jsp and Asp based website for mobile RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
We have an existing website which is a mix of asp and jsp pages. Now our client wants us to give the best approach so that it can be opened and used on mobile phone.

Please let me know as what would be the best and least time consuming architectural approach to achieve this.

  • You will be in a position to open the website on a mobile now - however you may find that it doesnt look very good! Without knowledge of the way you have approached the existing application it is hard to say what the best way to achieve your goal is - if you have some degree of n-Tier with your business logic abstracted from the UI (which is rarely the clase with classic ASP) then you would probably find that developing a new UI layer would be preferred. However if you have tightly integrated UI and business logic tiers you may find that implementing an alternate CSS style sheet would get you some way towards a website that looked decent on a mobile.

  • Also, please look for different mobile devices support. In ASP.Net there is a specific rendering controls to support different mobile devices. Not sure whether your requirement is clear on this.
