.Net Framework 3.5 won't install RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I'm having a lot of trouble with installing .NET Framework 3.5, my OS is Vista 64 bit. I had to uninstall the Frameworks because they were corrupted, I had an error whenever I tried uninstalling them in Add or Remove, so I just deleted the entire .NET folder in Windows.

I already tried using the clean up tool, but it didn't help at all. Also, the service packs for .NET 3.5 are in the installed updates list, it says they were already uninstalled when I try to remove them from the list.

  • Hi Starvingtodeath,

If .NET Framework Cleanup Tool doesn't work, you can try the following tool to remove .NET Framework 3.5. However, .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 cannot be uninstalled since Windows Vista includes them as OS components.

    - Use msiinv.exe: http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog%7C_Tools/msiinv.zip
This tool (which stands for MSI Inventory) wraps some of the publicly documented MSI APIs to provide information about the state of all Windows Installer products, features and components that Windows Installer thinks are installed on your computer.
    For more information, see: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/07/01/using-msiinv-to-gather-information-about-what-is-installed-on-a-computer.aspx

    - Use Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to clear it.
With the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, you can remove a program's Windows Installer configuration information. You may want to remove the Windows Installer configuration information for your program if you experience installation (Setup) problems.
    For more information, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Let me know if it works.

Moreover, from the log files above, it seems that .NET Framework 3.0 is corrupted. Could you please try .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool to verify .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 on your PC?

    Thanks
