Non-Sharepoint App Catalog RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Is it possible to share/install Office Addins (apps) without a Sharepont (say over a local intranet site)? Is there a REST API for example that can be implemented to act as an app catalog?

There are four options for publishing Office Add-ins, Office store, Corporate add-in catalog, Shared folder add-in catalog and Exchange server. Based on your description, it seems you are developing Task Pane or Content add-in. So Exchange server is not suitable. Corporate add-in catalog is used Sharepoint, so it did not meet your requirement. Based on your second reply, Shared folder add-in catalog did not meet your requirement. What you could use is Office store.

For submitting Office add-ins to Office store, you could refer the link below:

    # Submit Office and SharePoint Add-ins and Office 365 web apps to the Office Store
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj220037.aspx

If Office store did not meet your requirement, there is no way to achieve your requirement.

    Best Regards,

    Edward

  • BTW, this link explains how to use a network share for this purpose. It's close but, not exactly what I need as I want to server the catalog over HTTP. This requires that the path is in UNC format.
