Everytime I open a new web site in Visual Studio 2013, different folders are expanded at random and it's annoying.

    Is anybody else experiencing this?

    Hi,

You could submit this feedback in http://connect.microsoft.com Microsoft engineers will evaluate them serious.

I also find it can't keep the state in VS2013 Ultimate and don't find anyway to set it.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Try setting the below option in your solution

Tools  -> Options ->Projects and Solutions -> General.

And then select "Track Active Item in Solution Explorer" option.

And then select "Track Active Item in Solution Explorer" option.

You need to deselect it - http://forums.asp.net/t/1366424.aspx

    Try like following

Tools  -> Options ->Projects and Solutions -> General

Mark  "Track Active Item in Solution Explorer”

Close visual studio and then reopen

In a clean install of VS 2013 on Windows 8.1 Pro, by default, that option "Track Active item in Solution Explorer" was unchecked.

I have checked it and closed then reopened VS.

I have again unchecked it and closed then reopened VS.

In any case, random folders are expanded in Solution Explorer

    Hi,

    Thanks for your post!

Based on my test in the VS2013 and VS2012 Ultimate, I find that it isn’t keep the collapse/expand state if I used the VS2013. It will expand all the project when I re-open the solution. (It works in the VS2012)

I did some research, however I don’t find any way to configure it.

On the other hand, the option of Track Active item in Solution Explorer is used to track the current active item, in other words, it will highlights the active item whenever we select an item (e.g. Program.cs).

So, I suggest that you could submit this feature request in http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio

The Visual Studio product team is listening to user voice there. You can send your idea there so the others can vote it. If you submit this suggestion, you might post that link here which will beneficial for other members with the similar issue.

    Thanks

    Best Regards

I have used Visual Studio 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012. None of these versions have any issues with regards to opening folders at random when a solution/project is opened.

However, Visual Studio 2013 (Professional) is the first version to do so.

Have you tested VS 2013 Professional on Windows 8.1 Pro, without VS 2012 installed on the machine?

I am not asking for a feature request.

I am trying to see if anyone else is expereincing this unusual and annoying behaviour; and if so, what they did to resolve it.
