creating a toast notification from a background task

    Question

  • I was looking for information on how you declare a background task so it can send toasts on behalf of the metro app that scheduled the background task? I'm using the backgroundTasks server process to host the background task that implement the task interface. I runs fine, but throws a COM exception when creating the toast updater (which I'm constructing with a appid of the main app in the package). I can send a toast from the main app just not from the background task when it runs.

    Thanks

  • Seems to work without using the toast updater constructor that takes the appid as a parameter:

ToastNotificationsMnager::CreateToastNotifier()->Show(ref new ToastNotification(xml));  // xml is updated from toast template (ToastText04)
