Transfer data and structure from oracle to sql server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody and thanks in advance

I need to copy some table from an oracle db to a sql server db.

I have the name of the table to transfer, I need to recreate the structure in sql server if the table does not exists and then copy the records.

I have found a sample code to replicate structure from an ADO recordset to another but I cannot make it wrk for an oracle dataset.

I have used an OracleDataReader to obtain data from the oracle db.

I hope to have explain the problem in a clear way.

    Thank you

  • I believe best way to do this is to use DTS services from SQL Server, not to load and insert records in a loop. DTS provides fast bulk transformation of the data between different data sources.
