Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets not removing quotes when constructing package path RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a new build and am getting the error:

Error MSB4023: Cannot evaluate the item metadata "%(RootDir)".
The item metadata "%(FullPath)" cannot be applied to the path ""C:\a\1\a\\"\SPlan.zip".
The given path's format is not supported.
looking at the error logs the build is adding the package location correctly as:
     /p:PackageLocation="C:\a\1\a\\"
but it appears the quotes are remaining when the full path is constructed. Is there a way around this?

  • Hi,

    Thank you for posting here,

Are you using xaml or vnext build?

I would request you to share the build log and detailed information about issue so that it will help us to answer your query better.

  • Hi,

I had the same problem. You're probably using vNext Build and you defined the following in your MS Build Arguments:

    /p:PackageLocation="$(build.stagingDirectory)"

You need to remove the quotes in order for this to work! It solved my problem at least ;)

    /p:PackageLocation=$(build.stagingDirectory)

    Kind regards,
