Is it possible to show both Photosynth images and user generated normal image on the bing map, can they both co-exist? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to show on the bing map both the photoSynth images and normal images? and how?

We plan to develop a custom web application that will show featured PhotoSynth images (uploaded on map through web application or PhotoSynth client). The web application should also show user uploaded single/normal images along with photoSynth images, is it possible?

Also would it be possible to upload n show videos as well along with above medias?

    Thanks,

    cheers

  • There is no public API to query photosynths by location. What you can do is take your photosynth content and store the id's, and coordinates and then load them yourself as needed.

  • Yes. You can create a photosynth at Photosynth.com and add it to Bing Maps like it is done here: http://talkingdonkey.cloudapp.net/BM-AJ-Photosynth/Default.htm You can upload your photo's somewhere and then add then in an infobox. YOu can also upload your videos somewhere and load them into infobox. Bing Maps does not have a place for you to store this user generated content. This would need to be stored else where. Windows Azure is a good place for such an application.

  • Hi Richard,

Thanks for the response. so there should be two data sources.. 1) provided by photosynth 2)our custom db to store UGC

would I get a URL for the uploaded photosynth? In that case we may upload the featured photosynth through photosynth.com, get the URL and enter it in our application DB

while displaying pushpins we would show photosynth from this URL and other UGC image/video from application DB.. possible ?

Also is it possible to have visibility of these photosynth limited to the web application and not to all?

    Thanks,

    Nilesh

  • You would store a URL to each photosynth. If you look at a phtosynth at photsynth.com you will see there is an Embed button. Click this to see the code and URL needed to embed a photosynth into your web page.

  • thanks.. so can they all be shown on the same map at the same time? I dont see any example that shows photosynths+image pushpin + video pushpin altogether on bing map. Am I missing anything?

for instance this URL, the map is photosynth specific, dont show any other image/video pushpin

  • Just to add to above, I am looking for possibility of showing User uploaded images, featured photosynth images and videos altogether on bing map WITH "Dive-in" experience on photosynths.

Is it possible? through latest Ajax 7 SDK or silverlight?
