Need to install 3.5 SP1 on Virtual Server

I know zero about servers.  Can anyone tell me how to installed the 3.5 SP1 on a VDS (hosted by GoDaddy and using the Plesk Control Panel).  I do not know what directory to copy the file into.  Complete certifiable Newbie.

I think we may have it. 

We accessed the server using Remote Desktop.  Created a Holding folder.  Opened Internet Explorer from within the Remote Desktop, went to MicroSoft download page, added it as a Trusted Website to get by the security block.  Downloaded update to holding folder and then executed it.  It appears to be installing but it is extremely slow. 

Will installed 3.5 SP1 from the Holding folder, will that cause a problem?  Should we have installed it from the root?
