Thisa is the below error message i am gettting when i click on apply rules

Our system Denali Setup . I also checked the and found that

    select * from mdm.tblSystemSetting

The settings shown above int he table shows 10000 , but why i get as 100 on the excel when we click on apply rules.

  • Hello,

First of all the description of that setting does not match the feature you are talking about, it is not intended to limit the validations issues displayed but rather the number of items the user can delete/update as bulk data in the Explorer (Silverlight), which is by the way a feature that does not exist anymore in MDS 2012 (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh230997.aspx).

Unfortunatly I don't think that there is a setting in the Add-In to increase the number of validation issues displayed, and given the tests I ran on both the API and Stored procedures, I believe that this is hardcoded in the excel Add-in.

  • Hello,

You can find samples on using API there : http://sqlserversamples.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=SQL%20Server%202012%20Master%20Data%20Services. The sample are well documented. If you want to use stored procedure to validate your data (i.e. call your business rule) you can find the documentation here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh231023.aspx.

If you want to read data from your repository you will probably use "EntityMembersGet" and by the way you can validate your business rules using C# API as well. It is usually very wordy (verbose) but not that complicated and you will probably get the validation comment in the response.

Unfortunately in any case it will mean developing a new client (be it web, excel plugin or whatever floats your boat). I don't have a solution to retrieve the validation comment from MDS inside the excel add-in.

    Hope that helps,

    Olivier

  • Thanks Olivier. I was aware of the feature that we can import bulk data in the explorer. I was asking the 2nd part. on the Addin setting.

f it is hard coded in the excel Add - in this needs to be treated as a bug . If i have more than 100 rows error after 101 rows it shows as error but no comments attached to it. Customer would really not be able to identify if ther are duplicates . This  becomes difficult when we are loading more than 1000 records.

    Please see the screeshot.

Could you share me some links on how i can do this with API and how can i call the Businnes rules in stored procedurs...?? This would really help.

    Regards
