Monitoring I/O by Process RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am looking into the use of the process monitor to track changes in I/O due to different processes. The performance counters IO Data Bytes/Second and IO operations/second look most promising to me right now. However, the only documentation on these performance counters I can find is the definition: "Shows the rate at which the process is reading bytes from I/O operations. This counter counts all I/O activity generated by the process to include file, network and device I/O's". Can someone please elaborate on this definition in terms of storage layers? Is it simple a summation of the file, network, and device I/O's? Is there a way to divide the rate to just see IO data bytes/second for the device?
