Uninstall Developer Preview?

    Question

  • I've been using the Windows Developer Preview and I realise that every time I boot up, it asks whether to use the Developer Preview or Windows 7. That is good, but I have Windows 7 and the Developer installed 2 different hard drives and it asks me which OS to use no matter which one I boot from. Does this mean that the Windows 8 install has made changes to the Windows 7 boot?

    If that's true, how can I remove the Developer Preview when I don't want it anymore?

  • Hi,

    Windows Developer Preview setup modified your BCD settings so that Windows Developer Preview is the default.  You can change this back to using Windows 7 as the default using one of two methods:

    1) Run msconfig.exe and use the Boot tab to change the default.

    2) Boot into your Windows 7 install and run the following from an elevated command prompt: bcdedit /default {current}

    Windows Developer Preview setup should not have modified your Windows 7 install as long as you installed to a different partition or drive.

    Hope this helps,

    Richard
