Project Server compatiblity with MS Excel RRS feed

  • Question

  • We run Project Server 2013 and MS Excel 2013.

I set up same BI reports and then upgraded to MS Excel 2016, leaving Project Server at 2013. I am unable to open some of the reports that I had created.

Could this be a compatibility issue?

  • Hello,

It shouldn't be. What error do you get? When you say some of the reports, what is the different between the ones that do open and the ones that don't open?

  • The Projects Overview report gives an error message "Excel cannot open the file "project overview.xlsx" because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file"

    Same error with MilestonesDueThisMonth.

Milestones planned vs actual opens and works fine. Also Resource capacity.
