Data source for ASA to Power BI RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I've seen some examples where data is pushed into Power BI through ASA and real-time dashboards are created. I'd really like to figure this out. My question now is where does the data come from? I saw some queries that were pulling in temperature data, for example. Is it possible to feed data in from an on-prem SQL database that has transnational data in it? What are the current constraints to using it?

    Thanks!

  • When creating an ASA you will need to define the data input. Data input can be of two different types:

Azure Blog Storage - Blob storage can be used an input source for ingesting large amounts of data. Because blobs do not stream data, Stream Analytics jobs over blobs will not be temporal in nature unless the records in the blob contain timestamps.

Azure Event Hubs - Event Hubs input sources are used to collect event streams from multiple different devices and services.

More information can be found here:

But note that you can feed your sql database data into one of the two above.
