Converting Base64String to Image (bmp/Jpeg/png or any). RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    I want to convert my base64String to an image. I tried several ways that you have suggested. but it was not work with my large string. I used this method

                byte[] binaryData = Convert.FromBase64String(base64String);
                MemoryStream memoryStream = new MemoryStream(binaryData, 0, binaryData.Length);
                memoryStream.Position = 0;
                Bitmap bmpReturn = (Bitmap)Bitmap.FromStream(memoryStream);

                memoryStream.Close();
                memoryStream = null;
                binaryData = null;
                bmpReturn.Save("data.bmp");

    I get an error by saying "Parameter is not valid."  argument exception was unhandle. :(

  • You should never take binary data and convert to a string unless you use a method that is aproved for the conversion.  First, why are you taking an image and trying to convert it to a string?  When encoding binary data you should only use UTF8 encoding and not UTF7, or ASCII which alters the binary image data.  You when encoding data must use the opposite decoding data.  Encoding using one method and then decoding using a different method will alter the data and give errors when you try to view the image.
