SmtpServer.Name and FQDN RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm developing an Exchange Server 2007 transport agent.

When the agent is given an SmtpServer object (in RoutingAgentFactory.CreateAgent), the SmtpServer.Name property is set the machine's local name, yet the docs state that it should contain the Exchange Server's FQDN.

I suspect that this is because I don't have the FQDN set correctly in Exchange Server 2007 (just a test server on a virtual machine), but since I'm not very familiar with ES2K7, I'm not sure where to set its FQDN.

    So, two questions:

    1. should I indeed, expect the SmtpServer.Name property to be an FQDN (assuming the Exchange server is configured correctly).

    2. how do I configure Exchange Server 2007's SMTP FQDN? (did quick MSDN / Google searches, and saw nothing definitive).

    Thanks! :)
