Working on Flexible computing, meanz single code for multiple customers. I have two choices.

    • we will use ASP.Net webform application and deploy it on any ASP.NET hosting site
    • second choice is we will go on cloud and develop a SaaS product.

we want to work on .NET platform. so there's some question that i want to ask you.

    1. If we work on cloud, AZURE kit is available for development. but i have read that you can also deploy your ASP.NET appliaction(webform) on Azure also. So, i want to ask you the difference between the project i.e. completed on AZURE using kit and SQL AZURE
, and the project completed on ASP.NET webforms and deployed on AZURE.
Please tell me the pros and cons briefly.
    2. If we use AZURE then we need SQL AZURE, So are there many difference between SQL and AZURE SQL. Do i need to learn SQL Azure. I know SQL Server
    3. I am also worried about the sessionless environment in Azure.
    4. Is there any toolkit, Guide, Tutorial links that can help in our project and you know about it please share.

    Thanks for your time.

yes,you can use normal asp.net webforms application to host on the Azure by taking a Virtual machine(Infrstructure as as Service),if you need complete control on the environment you can use this approach. Or else you can go through using azure cloud services like Azure Websites and Webroles.

If we use AZURE then we need SQL AZURE, So are there many difference between SQL and AZURE SQL. Do i need to learn SQL Azure. I know SQL Server

As per my knowledge no need of learning something new with SQLAZURE if you already know SQLServer development. The same features of SQLserver are used in SQL Azure although some are missing.

I am also worried about the sessionless environment in Azure.

You can use Azure Table Storage,Sql Azure and Windows azure caching service to maintain session.

There already several articles on this,

    also,some opensource projects like this

Is there any toolkit, Guide, Tutorial links that can help in our project and you know about it please share.

My suggestion is go through the Windows Azure Documentation for development and MSDN.

    Hope this helps...

    Hi Syed,

#1 There is no difference if you are creating a new cloud web app. or have an existing web app. which you plan to deploy to cloud. Further Azure comes with Storage like "Tables", "Blobs" and "Queues" which can be used to store data so unless your requirement is Relational Database you may not need SQL Azure, Azure Table Storage can work.

#2 Not required you can use Azure Table Storage for saving data

#3 There are couple of techniques to maintain session they are using Table Storage, SQL Azure and Windows Azure Caching

    #4 Refer: http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/documentation/services/web-sites/ and http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/documentation/services/cloud-services/

    Thanks,
    Sahas
