Can I turn UnobservedTaskException dialog off RRS feed

  • Question

I've seen a lot of this dialog over the last few months

    please - p1ss off

e.g. right now I'm looking at some winJS code and this dialog comes up every single time I open a js file.

I generally get used to closing it and swearing... some people I work with call it MonoDroid-Tourettes

Is there any way to switch it off? And/or to get it to auto-report the problem back to Xamarin?

    Thanks

    Stuart

I was doing a demo to a potential new customer yesterday. I hit this problem during the demo... they laughed... but they weren't smiling. And really this bug made my job of selling my services and your products 10 times harder :(

I realise it's probably not a Xamarin bug... I realise that it's VS2012 and Microsoft...

But please can we avoid having so many modal dialogs? Please....

Also in Bugzilla - https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=8831 - but really there are lots of NEW bugs about this already there. Why do they sit there in NEW :(

    Here's a list: https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=Unobserved%20task%20exception&list_id=35502

    Rant over - I only rant because I do <3 MonoDroid :)

Hi Stuart, We will log that exception instead of popping up a dialog. Will try to get it out in the next beta.

Thanks - sorry for not reporting it a bit louder back in May!

Not urgent, but at some point, could we organise some sort of cleanup on bugzilla - maybe an amnesty where lots of NEW bugs can be changed to WILL-NOT-FIX, FIXED, NO-LONGER-APPLY, or whatever? Also maybe some sort of tidying up of UserVoice too. Note: I'm not complaining... just trying to help :)

    Thanks again....

Wonder if I can bump a few more old ones up the list - e.g. https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4066
