Want options for Advanced users to have complete control

General discussion

Hi
I've been a Windows user since 2004 and would like to see a setting for advanced users in Windows 8.
Like the ability to control everything from how usb devices sync to disabling all automated options.
Basically I would like complete control of what Windows does.
Thanks

It would be up to the USB device producers to decide how to sync, or app writers to decide how and what to automate. For example Microsoft won't have a setting to control how to sync with an IPhone, it is Apple's job to consider such a setting in its software that provides the sync ability. It is like asking a mall's designer when a business would be open on Sunday. Such information won't be in the blueprint.

That's what the Registry Editor is for. If you want to make these kinds of changes to Windows, type "regedit" into the Start Menu where you can edit the Windows Registry. If you want to make a specific change to Windows, there is probably information available online that can help you make the desired change. This will work for every version of Windows since Windows 95. It is virtually impossible to ad options to customize everything that Windows does. By creating a folder named "MasterControlPanel.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" in Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can display a complete list of every option in Windows that has a GUI associated with it, but changing more advanced settings requires the Registry Editor. I am quite certain that this will remain true in Windows 8.
