MSR(Modem status register) in Virtualserial UMDF RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on integrating USB and UMDF Virtualserial and need to emulate
CTS(Clear to sent) and DSR(Data set ready), on USB Unplug.

But , VirtualSerial doesn't have any MSR register , only LCR and MCR.

Is there any way , i can make the serial device as disconnected using them.

  • No, device manager displays devices based on drivers reporting the device as present through pnp relations

  • So  , the CTS/DSR down will be visible to application and
the device manager will not show the changes in the device connection status.

Thanks Doron , for the quick answer.

  • Will putting the device in loopback mode in MCR (modem control register),

be reflected in the device manager as disconnected.
