Unable to open project 2010 site in sharepoint designer 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Environment :- SharePoint 2010.
Question related to Project server 2010 template.

When I try to open the project web access page with the help of SharePoint designer 2010 I get the below message

“This web site has been configured to disallow editing with SharePoint designer Contact your web site administrator for more information”

i made sure that the user account has been added to the designer group.

As per the below link they are asking to make changes to the ONET.XML.

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sharepointdesigner/archive/2008/11/25/locking-down-sharepoint-designer.aspx

    1)   What could be the reason for getting the error message while opening the site with SharePoint designer?
    2) The steps suggested in the above link, can they be followed?
    3) If yes   what is the folder name of the project server (Site definition folder name) in the 12 hive (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\SiteTemplates)

    Please Advise.

  • Project Server pages cannot be modified with SPD, reason being its not just sharepoint but project server elements are tied up within the page and by modifying the same you might end up breaking the bindings and hence could mess up your whole page, the other reason not to modify is if you modify the page you are breaking the MS Support agreement and hence end up loosing MS Support

    Hope this helps

  • Hi Sunil Kumar,

Thank you for your time and guidance.
Quick question: - we are trying to change the look and feel of the page, so do we have any free Master pages which can be applied to the Project server page.

    Thanks,
