Metro style application Layout RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, yes I noticed while using windows 8 there is a way to set some applications to snap right / snap left, I was wondering if there is a way to have the metro application when started to automatically snap right on load.  If possible can someone please explain or point me in the direction of the tutorial that shows me how to do it.  Thank you.

  • Hi Rich,

Snapped state is a user preference. Applications cannot snap themselves: only the user can snap them (applications can unsnap themselves).

The snapped state is not always available. It requires that the system be in a mode which is at least 1366 pixels wide so there is room for a 320 pixel wide snapped app and a 1024 pixel wide filled app.

  • I think it would be really good if snap state was available because I would like to create an application that runs off snap state for application purposes.... If snap state was an available layout then you can have many applications run on the side, lets say for instance this blog can be an application on my windows 8 computer (metro app)  and I open it and now I have the blog running in snap state.... Now I can read the blog and also get my work done at the same time.

Do you understand what I am trying to get at?  applications that run in snap state can open Ideas for many other things my application That I want to create I am not willing to reveal the details, but if snap state was available to run it in snap state.  Is there a way I can request it to be available When windows 8/ vs11 comes out?
