Bing maps non-https / SSL cert expired for HTTPS RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently using bing maps for our application and noticed that certain HTTPS urls have an expired SSL certificate from akamai.net

Does anyone know who to contact to push this along to getting resolved?

I can't post a link for example, as apparently I'm not verified yet.

    edit: I added some spaces..

    For instance:  http s://ecn.dynam ic.t1.tiles.virtualearth.net/comp/Compos itionHandler/2?mkt=en-en&it=G,VE,BX,L,LA

  • You are not using the correct endpoint for https requests, that's why you're getting the cert warning.

If you are calling our tile services directly, you should be getting the URL to use from this service

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/bingmaps/rest-services/imagery/get-imagery-metadata

Make sure to pass scheme=https to get the SSL endpoint back. Best practice is to call it for every session as URL's may change without notice and if you hard-code a service URL it will break.

For https requests you should currently be getting something like https://t0.ssl.ak.tiles.virtualearth.net

(note the ssl in the URL)

Our map controls handle all of this for you and are much easier to use than working with the tiles directly.
