How to attach winusb.sys temporarily to an USB-HUB? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to send an USB Control Request to an USB-Hub. This feature is not supported by Windows-OS, details see https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsdesktop/en-US/f680b63f-ca4f-4e52-baa9-9e64f8eee101/how-to-send-an-usb-control-request-to-an-usbhub?forum=wdk.

Therefore I look for an workaround.

My approach:  is it possible to temporarily attach winusb.sys to an USB-HUB? Maybe via an USB-filter-driver?

    Any proposal or idea?

    Thx in advance, O.

  • if you have winusb control the hub, you lose all usbhub functionality (like enumerating devices attached to the ports). if you want to send io to the hub itself you need to write your own KMDF filter driver.
