Phantom touches after Windows update

Question
-
I am working on a gesture-based Windows 8 app (HTML/JS). It was working fine. Today, I installed all pending updates to Windows 8, and all of a sudden it's gone weird, with phantom touches (reacting where no touch has been made). Lest the blame be on my code, I also checked the before and after behavior with http://files.gestureworks.com/utils/GestureVisualizerSetup.exe -- it was ok before, and erratic after.

So it sounds like you have narrowed this down to the point where you are confident this has nothing to do with programming. This is not the best place for help with this. You can go to answers.microsoft.com, the hardware manufacturer or support.microsoft.com to dig into this further (might be a driver related issue...).

Is it only that app or all apps on the system? What is your hardware configuration?

I've tried two apps -- mine (Metro HTML5) and the GEstuerworks -- which is not a metro app, both have the same problem.
Hardware -- this is ASUS M51AC - https://www.asus.com/Desktops/M51AC/#specifications.
