How to exclude items from Search Result page?

Question

Hi, I have setup custom search page to show all blog posts, but the search result also returns blog posts "

Welcome to your Blog!" that I want to exclude.

Hello Ayaz,

Are you using SharePoint 2007 or 2010?

If its 2007, you can exclude some items from displaying in the search results by creating a scope in the SSP. In the scope add an exclude rule, based on some property (to exclude your "Welcome to your Blog!" entry. Use this scope in your custom search page.

I never tested this on 2010, but I hope the same can be done through the Search Service Application.

in sharepoint 2010, there is an option to remove a url from search results immidiately, corresponding crawling rules/ exclude rules are set automatically 

And the that specific content does not get crawled.

 

Otherwise go for Crawl exclude rules directly.

It is SharePoint 2010. Which property type I need to set to exclude the "Welcome to your Blog!" entry. 'Item Title' or 'ows:Title'

set the exclude rule for ows:Title property and value to "Welcome to your Blog!"
