ASP.NET: Accessing Objects in CACHE from different Instances RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi again all!

One more question: If I have two website instances running, and they are using the same Azure Cache, is the following possible?

VM #1 caches some database data in the Azure Cache (as opposed to SESSION or APPLICATION) for all users.

On VM #2, a person needs to access the CACHE object to retrieve the piece of data saved by the individual on VM #1.

As I understand it, so long as the data in VM #1 is saved in "cache" (as apposed to application or session cache), that cache object should be reachable by people on both VMs?

Or, another way to look at it, since they both share the same Azure Cache, the two VMs sort of behave as one. Do I have that right?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Eric,

That is right. If both instances use the same cache (service) they can both access the same cached objects.
