C# FORMs in WindowsVista VERSUS WindowsXP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I developed an application in 32bits in VS2005 Pro and I was not planning to deploy it to Windows Vista but now I have to. The application seems to work fine in Windows Vista but the graphic user interface seems to behave or look different that in Windows XP. The Picture Boxes resize different from WindowsXP and they look stretched sometimes.

If I develop another application in Visual Studio 2010 would I have the same GUI in WindowsXP and in WindowsVista?

  • The GUI in Windows XP and Windows Vista depends more on how you are designing it. Some part of your application like titlebar depends on the Theme of your operating system but other controls like Menubar, PictureBox, etc could be designed in such a way that it looks similar in all operating system.
