Desktop Application Architectural Doubts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm planning with my team a governamental desktop application. It will run in many cities througout the estate, and need to consume services to keep the flow of data. Initially we were planning on using a WPF application with WCF services to provide the connectivity, but while researching I found a series of articles (some as old as 2016) explaining that WCF was on the verge of dying and that other technologies should be used.

My Question is: what is the best architecture to use in desktop applications these days? Is WPF as front end and WCF as back end still used or should we start using some new/better tecnology?

Thanks in advance and sorry my bad english.
