Streaming Live Video RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I'm having trouble finding practical information on how to do this.

We want to create an application to stream live video. On the customer's end we need to be able to have him turn it on as easy as flipping on the camera and starting an application and adding a few settings, such as a password for viewers to enter, without having to mess around with an encoder. On the other end we need a client side app that can connect to this stream, after endetering in that password.

From what I can see this requires connecting the camera to a server and then streaming it from there to a second server (or possibly silverlight streaming) and then stream it from there.

My searching has turned up several articles about how great the streaming capabilities of silverlight are and even this artcle on how to stream live video, but none that show how to make it easy for an end user to broadcast.

Also, I haven't been able to find any recommendations on hardware requirements for such a streaming system, ie. server hardware requirements or bandwith.

    Any guidance is extremely appreciated!
