Why Can't I Push Notifications Through WNS Now? RRS feed

  • Several days ago, I registered my client app through the temporary portal


    since I can't use the Windows Store, and I succeeded to push notification. But now my project doesn't work.

    However I used another msn account to register my client app and then put the SID, package name and secret in my project, It finally worked. I just wonder if there is any restriction on my account for using the WNS service?

  • It does sound like a problem with your account.  Can you go back to your old account again and re-register or create a new sample app and does that work?

  • Right, I tested my project with another account and it did work. So is it because each account  has limited times to use WNS service since I just used the temporary way to test WNS service ? Or I just shouldn't frequently post my request(like pushing tile notification) to the WNS, I ever used FOR loop to post my request.

  • I don't know of any restrictions.  Does your code request a new notification channel?  That channel expires in 30 days.

  • I registered several clients for receiving notifications, then I got the new SID and secret back after the registration and sent them to my cloud service, which sent all the necessary infomation that the WNS needed to push notifications to my client. I think I should have used a new notification channel after these processes.

  • Yes, the notification channel can expire.
