Establishing a GPRS connection while device has an Active Sync connection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a device which is connected to a laptop which currently does not have internet connectivity.

I have a device connected to this laptop via Active Sync.

I would like to still be able to access our web service via the device while the device is docked. Maintaining the Active Sync connect is important to allow for Remote Display to be used.

I have been able to connect the device if I change the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using" setting to "My Work Network" however this only works if the laptop has internet connectivity.

Is what I am trying to do possible? If so, please could you let me know how I might achieve this.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Paul,

Can you elaborate on following qurestions, which may help us to find the problem:

    1. Where is the web service, is it on your laptop?
    2. Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using" setting to "My Work Network" however this only works if the laptop has internet connectivity. Can you elaborate on this statement?

  • Hi,

    1. The web service is on a server, we can access it via an external ip address.
    2. The laptop was not connected to a WiFi AP, had no Ethernet cable and no GPRS dongle therefore no way to access the web service. This is why I was thinking I might be able to still connect the device to our web service via its GPRS connection however maintain an active sync connection.

    Thanks
