Server Error in '/' Application

Question

User2063909326 posted
Here is my situation and problem BELOW:
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Please note:
I have already tried each of these codes above in my "Web.Config", as well as some other suggestions I have come across online but not a thing have worked in getting my application on line correcting.
I am a newbie to Microsoft Visual Wed Developer 2005 and 2008
My question is: What steps I need to take to get the starter kit in Microsoft Visual Wed Developer 2005 to install correctly onto a production server using ASPX.NET Membership Controls?
Been at this like going on my third week now, can any one assist me? Thank you in advance, NUUR_J.

Hi
first of all make your custom errror as "Off" and let your application send respective errors
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
then, when you run your application you will get specific error message, based on that you can correct your errors.
about your question "what are the steps involved to run your application from your production server".
first of all publish your database to the production server. you may have "publish my database wizard" in visual studio server exporer". it wizard will take you to publish your database ( both aspnetdb and your custom database) with or without data. it will generate and give you as script. you can run this script on production server's sql server query analyzer.
after that publish your website and run it on your local IIS .make sure everything fine from there.
after that edit your web.config file either using notepad or visual studio and change your connection strings which are given by your hosting provider.
** make sure your webconfig application name exactly as in the membership database.
then upload your folder and test from there. if you have any problem contact me abrly@yahoo.com. will help you sure.

I think you need a database that has a membership tables and other requirment. If this is the problem use.
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regsql.exe
Documentation about the aspnet_regsql.exe : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229862%28VS.80%29.aspx .
Hope this help.
