    Have you taken a look at possibly using a library that already exists to help you out? Such as IRC.NET?

    Codeplex has plenty of various IRC libraries that could point you in the right direction in terms of using some pre-made functionality rather than writing it all yourself.

    Seach for IRC on CodePlex

    This StackOverflow thread also discusses several other options that you could consider.

    am totally new to this technology, i have to implement an application tho,

    i cant seem to find a working example to get me started, i need to integrate it with an mvc application
