  • I have 2 columns of information on a spreadsheet.

    I want a formula that will look for a word (text) in one column and put the code that is in the other column beside it in a column on a new worksheet.

    Can this be done?

  • Let's say the data you want to search in are on Sheet 1 in A2:B1000, and that the text you're looking for is in cell D2. In E2, enter the formula

    =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(E2,'Sheet 1'!$A$2:$B$1000,2,FALSE),"")

    This formula can be filled down.

    If the second column with data is not directly next to the first one, e.g. if it is H2:H1000, use

    =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(E2,'Sheet 1'!$A$2:$H$1000,8,FALSE),"")

    (H is the 8th column)
