IIS Express does not run automatically when Run button is clicked from WebMatrix RRS feed

I recently downloaded WebMatrix using Installer. It also installed IIS express on my machine. I am facing following problems: 1>I have created test website and tried to run it from WebMatrix. But it gave me error "Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): The server refused the connection." Then I ran IIS Express manually and I could see website working on localhost. IIS express should be launched automatically when Run button is clicked from WebMatrix; is this correct? 2>Also IIS express register only first site created and does not register other sites created when I run IIS express manually. I appreciate your help to resolve these issues. Thanks.

    Hi.

Edit: 12-03-2011 Remove and install IIS Express.

Use the IIS Epress guides for Trouble Shooting.

Alternate install the Web Matrix Beta 2.

Hello Martin, Thanks for your response. I followed your instructions. When I run WebMatrix I do not see IIS Express icon in system tray ; but if I run IISExpress manually I see the icon in system tray. Do I have to change any configuration files? I see IIS folder in c:\Program Files as well as IIS and IIS express folder in c:\Program Files (x86). But Control Manager shows only IIS express installed; I do not see any previous version of IIS installed. In IISExpress folder applicationhost.config shows both of my website entries: <sites> <site name="BakeryTest" id="1"> <application path="/"> <virtualDirectory path="/" physicalPath="%IIS_SITES_HOME%\BakeryTest" /> </application> <bindings> <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:62308:localhost" /> </bindings> </site> <site name="Starter Site" id="2"> <application path="/"> <virtualDirectory path="/" physicalPath="%IIS_SITES_HOME%\Starter Site" /> </application> <bindings> <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:39347:localhost" /> </bindings> </site> <siteDefaults> <logFile logFormat="W3C" directory="%IIS_USER_HOME%\Logs" /> <traceFailedRequestsLogging directory="%IIS_USER_HOME%\TraceLogFiles" enabled="true" maxLogFileSizeKB="1024" /> </siteDefaults> <applicationDefaults applicationPool="Clr4IntegratedAppPool" /> <virtualDirectoryDefaults allowSubDirConfig="true" /> </sites> But when I run WebMatrix manually it still register only one site 'BakeryTest' and does not register other site 'Starter Site'. When I run IISExpress manually and tried to give help commnd or any other command it does not recognize. Should I install IISExpress again? I tried repair but its not working. Thanks,

Is this WebMatrix 1 or 2 (Beta)? In WebMatrix 1, you can control the IISExpress server with buttons to stop/restart it. In WebMatrix 2, clicking Run should start the server automatically.

Do other sites work or is it just one? The site may have a bad configuration (web.config)...

Also when you run IISExpress from the command line, you can pass it the name of your Site in WebMatrix. Try seeing if there are any error logs that come out of running IISExpress from the command line.

Hi Martin, Sorry for late reply. I was not able to watch the video as it is stopping after some time; but I have read similar tutorial and created the test site. I have checked WebMatrix version. I think its 1.0: --------------------------- About WebMatrix --------------------------- Version 1 WebMatrix: 7.1.1073.1 IIS 7.5 Express: 7.1.1070.1 ASP.NET Web Pages: 1.0.20105.407 SQL Server Compact: 4.0.8482.1 Web Platform Installer: 7.1.1070.1 Web Deploy: 7.1.1070.1 .NET Framework: 4.0.30319.237 (RTMGDR.030319-2300) I will download version 2(beta) and see if it works. Thanks for your help.
