Does TAPI Work With Windows 7? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Folks:

Developing on Win 7 64 Ultimate, VS 2010 Pro, C++.

An application I've been working on for a while uses TAPI 3 to work as a dialer, among other things.

I've recently moved development to Windows 7 64 Ultimate and now my program no longer dials out on the modem.  The dialer function of the application works fine on my laptop, running XP Home.

The application is built for the 32 bit platform, UTF 8 rather than UTF 16.

I've installed the Zoom 64 bit driver.  The diagnostics indicates the modem is communicating with the PC.

I've put together a simple TAPI 2.2 test dialer, which also works on Win XP, but not Win 7 64.  When the test dialer is built for 64 bits, but it still doesn't work.

I can post the simple TAPI test code, but I'd like to know if there is a well known issue that I need to address.

  • Hi Again:

I've looked through my old threads and found this.

The problem is that Zoom modems and drivers are not compatible with Win 7/64.

Use the US Robotics.  Worked first time. I chose the external, USB model with  the odd name of "56k* USB Faxmodem".
