WPF custom controls not displaying at designtime on one machine, but on all others RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear colleagues,

I have a strange behavior of my Blend installation on my working machine.

I have designed a UserControl and use custom controls in it that I have put in another assembly.

At designtime those controls are not shown in the Blend environment. They get an automatic size of 0

and Snoop reveals that they have no template. But no error is raised in Blend and they are perfectly

    visible at runtime.

What really puzzles me is: The project is on a mobile disk. If I open it on another machine, everything

    works fine.

Does anyone have an idea where I could start to search for the difference?

Thanks in advance for an enlightening answer!

    Andreas Hassmann.

  • Do both machines have the same version of Blend? If this is a Silverlight project, do both machines have the same version of Silverlight installed?

  • Wow, you are quick!

    It is a WPF project.

On the faulty machine the version is 4.0.30816.0

The other working machine has 4.0.20525.0

I was not paying attention to the version because just two days ago

the faulty was a working machine and I have not installed an update

consciously. But maybe automatically via Windows Update?

  • Version 4.0.30816.0 is the developer tools for Windows Phone 7 Mango. It seems odd that the newer version of Blend would have the display issue. Could you send me the project at first.last@microsoft.com (substituting my name)?
