Active VFP host requirements

Question
-
Hi
I'm planning to start using ActiveVFP - the host provider needs to run IIS and what more ?
I mean what are the spoecific VFP parts must be running at their server ?I've read this in the AVFP site:
"Q: Can I use Visual FoxPro to build Web applications?
Visual FoxPro COM components can be used with Internet Information Services (IIS) to build high-powered Internet database applications. This is because Visual FoxPro components can be called from Active Server Pages (ASP). Visual FoxPro is compatible with ASP but works even better in conjunction with the more modern ASP.NET. The components will retrieve and manipulate data, and will build some of the HTML returned to the user. "I've got another doubt:
Does AVFP use only IIS in conjunction with .net or something else ?Thanks in advance !

The Web Host must provide Full-Trust on an IIS web server with ASP.NET.
All the "VFP parts" are included in ActiveVFP. Just copy ActiveVFP to the web host meeting these requirements and the DEMO vfp app will work. Add your own VFP code to run instead of the DEMO.
ActiveVFP 5.5 works with GoDaddy running ASP.NET 1.1 (ASP.NET 1.1 on GoDaddy provides Full-Trust) Instructions for GoDaddy.
the latest version, ActiveVFP 5.6, requires ASP.NET 2.0 or above and also Full-Trust. Discount ASP.NET is one of many providers that will satisfy these requirements.
Hosting should cost between $5 to $10 a month. I've seen specials advertised at Discount ASP.NET for $5/mo. and I believe that's the standard cost for GoDaddy.

I actually pay only $10 a year at GoDaddy for this Demo site!!:http://thetechconsult.com/demo/default.aspx
*you get free hosting when you buy a domain from GoDaddy but usually they require that you run their advertising if you use this cheapest hosting ( I guess I lucked out since I don't have to run their adds at the top)

The demo works perfectly fast. Not like Fox In Cloud....Monday, November 21, 2011 4:58 PM

Yeah, FoxinCloud has some good parts and some bad parts. The JavaScript interface is pretty slick, but, the back-end has some issues. I wish he would do a version for ActiveVFP on the backend. It would be cheaper, run on more web hosts, be faster, and more scalable.... I think the problem is he built in License checking on the server and also may not want to re-do anything (although I think any re-write for ActiveVFP would be minimal)
