Azure Pipelines (Free option) Specs or Features RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am looking to setup an open source project on Azure Pipelines. I found that Azure Pipelines has a free option to build open source projects. However, before I start using this option I would actually like to know what the specs or configuration of this pipeline.

    i.e.

    1. What is compute (CPU) power for the pipeline?

    2. What is memory provided in the pipeline for building? (RAM, Storage/HDD)

I am trying to setup a CI/CD for openbmc project. This is an open source project and would require a lot of computational and memory support. So I would like to understand if Azure Pipeline would be the right option for me.

    Thank you.

  • Hello akagdiwala,

Yes, you are correct in that Azure Pipelines provides unlimited CI/CD minutes and 10 parallel jobs to every GitHub open source project for free.

Coming to the infrastructure configuration of the Pipelines, please know that all open source projects run on the same infrastructure that our paying customers use. That means you’ll have the same fast performance and high quality of service. Many of the top open source projects are already using Azure Pipelines for CI/CD, such as Atom, CPython, Pipenv, Tox, Visual Studio Code, and TypeScript-and the list is growing every day! I'd suggest you definitely give Azure Pipelines a try. Here is a sample exercise on Azure Devops Labs that can walk you through the process.

If you run into issues in the process or need additional information to get going, please feel free to open an issue in the Developer Community, where the Azure DevOps team and community are active and answering questions. This forum is specifically for questions on the Azure Marketplace.

    Thanks for reaching out!
