Huawei Ascend W1 - No support for Windows Phone 8.1

Question
-
I was looking forward to Windows Phone 8.1 on my Huawei W1, but get sprung this error :(
I have updated to the pre-installation update for Windows Phone 8.1 (8.0.10532.166)
It's just confusing that I am getting such error as the Nokia Lumia 520, with roughly the same specifications, is getting the update fine, whereas the Huawei W1 isn't.
Someone please help, I have enclosed a screenshot of the error I am getting.

I've tried to perform the update to Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers, but after the download has completed I get the following error message.
The update was downloaded, but couldn't be opened. (80188309)
I've restarted the phone a couple times and retried without any suggest.

Hi all,
My phone for developing has always been the Huawei Ascend W1. After the update finally being released to developers, I began updating. The first update (8.0.10532.166) downloaded, prepared to install and installed perfectly fine. Then I began to update to 8.1. It downloaded and then it began 'preparing to install'. Whilst still 'preparing to install', I received a screen saying that the installation was cancelled due to a lack of free space. I then made enough space and tried again. After going through the download and reaching the end of 'preparing to download' I received this error "The update was downloaded, but couldn't be opened. (80188309)". The only option on screen was to 'check for updates', when doing so the whole process happened again, including the same error. I then reset my phone through the 'About' option. I re-downloaded 'Preview for Developers' and tried the update again. After it had downloaded and prepared to install, I received the same error! "The update was downloaded, but couldn't be opened. (80188309)".

Hey,
A quick google search of the 'Huawei Ascend W1' resulted in these findings on a german page.
Huawei
Huawei is the only vendor really specifically what concerns the update plans, and issued the single Windows Smartphone in the range a clear rejection. The in January 2013 presented at CES and about two months later, Available Ascend W1 is Huawei not upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1.
'For the Huawei Ascend W1 there will be no update.'
Huawei PR agencyThere is also matching information and new information about the 8.1 update on the 'Huawei Ascend W1' Wikipedia page.
With a small bit of extra reasearch I found this
Finally, Huawei has made a concrete statement to update its plans. Accordingly, the Ascend W1 is 8.1 definitely does not get the new Windows Phone. A reason for the cancellation
did not name the manufacturer. The already over a year old Ascend W1 is Huawei's single WP8 model, since there was nothing new.

Thanks for that Heisenburger!
I just whizzed an email to Huawei with a, what I think, a strong message from the eye of any developer.
"Hello,
I am writing this email to spark my outrage on the Windows Phone 8.1 availability for the Huawei Ascend W1.
I am completely annoyed by the way Huawei are treating Microsoft with this massive update.
At Build 2014, Microsoft announced Windows Phone 8.1 as to ALL Windows Phone 8 devices, and you are not going to release Windows Phone 8.1 for the Huawei Ascend W1, no matter what.
I am not alone in the march for customers wanting the upgrade.
As you can see by my question on Microsoft Developer Network (link ommited), we can see that many customers wanting to try the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, but we can't because of the error code we get, the same one we faced with the early adoption of Update 3 and Nokia Lumia Black.
I suggest that you allow us Windows Phone users to experience Windows Phone 8.1 on our devices, as we want to develop for the new platform for those of us running Windows Phone 8.1.
I am going to end this email on a strong message.
Just be warned, if you won't allow us to have Windows Phone 8.1, you are going to lose a lot of customers. Since Windows Phone 8.1 is going to be released very soon, the modern apps (like the upcoming BBM) are not going to work on WP8, they will only work on WP8.1.
Let us have Windows Phone 8.1."Hopefully I should receive a reply and Huawei will let out a firmware update so we can have this update!

Hello Everyone,
Here is the Friday update on how things are moving forward. Without further delay, here is the news for today:- A little clarification on the update notification. The notification has stopped for all devices that have not yet taken the first update, however those that have taken the first update and are waiting for the second update to the current 8.1 build will continue to occur. At this point, I would recommend ignoring the update notification and wait for further updates from us.
- The update itself is not going to be available today, or likely early next week. We are continuing to work on getting you this update but it will not be as fast as you would like. I know a lot of you would like a better timeline on when it will be available, and at this time I cannot commit to a date. I will however, commit to updating you next Thursday April 24th, 2014 with any additional news. If I have any news or details before then, I will of course update you at that time.
We appreciate you being eager to participate in the Windows Phone Developer Preview Program, and look forward to getting it to you as soon as possible.

Hi,
seeing your video and knowing it works is nice, but doesn't help people who want the normal developer preview on their phones. Here is the promised update from Eli A.:
Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for waiting patiently over the last week, and continuing to stick with us as we work on getting you the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview. We believe we have identified the fix and will be going through some of our normal testing to confirm. With that being said, I don’t have an update yet on when we will roll this fix out to you.
I plan to provide more information on Thursday May 1st. In the meantime, please continue to hold on and thank you again for your willingness to participate in our Developer Preview Program.
Thank you,
Eli A.
