Disable dialog filter RRS feed

  • Assuming I have an image which has a dialog filter, is it possible to disable the filter from within windows later on?

  • Yes, DialogFilter is a Service. So you can enable and disable the service.

      Off Topic: I think Dialog Filter should have been more deeply integrated into Windows. If i kill the process all settings are gone/worthless.

  • Yes, Knarz is correct.  Restarting the service after will re-enable filtering.  Stopping and restarting will also restart the process as well as reload the configuration file, but as Knarz says, don't let the user terminate the dialogfilter.exe.  Disabling the Task Manager through Policy is advised.

  • hm, that is interesting.  Also un-related, I wish the dialog filter was a bit more robust.  Perhaps incorporating logic, or the ability to enter text.
